Q135: If a creature has the Constrict (Ex) ability, can it only deal lethal damage, or can it choose to deal non-lethal damage? In the case of Improved Grab, does it depend on what 'weapon' was used to initiate the grapple? If the creature cannot deal non-lethal damage via Constrict, yet wants to subdue an opponent, must it attempt a regular grapple attempt to deal damage as if with an unarmed strike?
I'm asking mostly in regards to the Tsochar this time:
Constrict (Ex): A tsochar deals 2d4+2 points of damage with a successful grapple check. When a tsochar deals damage by means of its constrict attack, it injects its victim with poison.
Improved Grab (Ex): To use this ability, a tsochar must hit
with two tentacle attacks. It can then attempt to start a grapple
as a free action without provoking attacks of opportunity. If
it wins the grapple check, it establishes a hold and can constrict.
