On the BBlade needing an attack bonus, there's the Brutal Throw feat, Strength to attack instead of Dex. I just need to find the space for it somewhere.

  • 6thD - Crasher Tank (melee damage, battlefield control)

Wasn't someone debating a full-on Frenzied Barb?  Anybody else who applied who I'm forgetting?

I say don't pull any punches for us - give us what you'd give a group of casters.  That'd test our mettle fo' reelz!   ;)  Plus it'd make our victories that much more sassifying . . .

@Strato: You don't need Brutal Throw on a BB - they count their ranged attacks as melee attacks, using Strength to hit instead of Dex.  Handy, isn't it?   ;)  You only need to grab a feat if you're a Dex-based BB, in which case most folks go for the Doubletoss + WP Finesse + Shadowblade trick (since Doubletoss only says you lose your Strength mod to damage with Doubletoss and Shadowblade gives you your Dex mod).

I was contemplating a Frenzied Berserker, but I would prefer a dip into Cleric for the Pride Domain with that. Since this is a no casters game I don't think I'll go with the Frenzied Berserker.

I'm currently trying to decide between these ideas:
-Revenant Blade Pouncer
-Totemist/Warblade Pouncer
-Half-Minotaur Dungeoncrasher with Rope Dart for battlefield control


Any thoughts?

Dip barbarian for pounce/Crusader up for healing/ and cumberous will, which stops the whole
"nuke the party" thing 100% of the time.

I will have at-will healing when we start, I just haven't figured out my build entirely yet.

monk 4/SS 1/FotF 1/fighter 1/SS+1/SSN 1?  That may be the best I've got right now.  Anyone know of any way to get more bonus feats?  Going into 2 more monk, 1 more fighter, 2 more FotF, and after that, I'm not entirely sure if I want Initiate of Draconic Mysteries (probably do for 4 levels at least, but that's a ways off).  Half-minotaur human, LA payed for (it's +1, right?  And where is it from again?).  Not quite sure on race yet.

Right now I'll have Combat Expertise
Imp Trip
IUS
Dodge
Lightning Fists
Pw Attack
Great Fort
Knock-Down
Abberant Blood
Inhuman Reach
Improved Initiative.

I can link any feats you don't have access to that I'm wanting to use.  Also, I'm damage/healing/control.  I'm probably not the best at control, since it's trip and I don't have insane reach, but I have it, and it's how I don't get hit.

I'll be going for a plain old charger.
Power Attack, Leap Attack, Improved Bull Rush and Shock Trooper and Battle Jump.
I might go (Water Orc) if I can fit in Headlong Rush as well.

I'll be using Steadfast Determination for the Will save, and I'll have Moment of Perfect Mind and Iron Heart Surge as well so I won't get dominated or something right away.

I think a smaller group would be easier for all involved.

Also, since the other guys seem to have their characters already mostly done, maybe it would be better if I joined in your game if it gets of the ground, Alastar?

Working a sheet up for Redpaw - I'm assuming we'll all be using Mythweavers?

Oh - and how, on these forums, does one make a word into a hyperlink?  I can't figure it out - when I hit the url button, it just gives the word I highlighted a {url}{/url} tag instead of asking for an address.

I like the idea of doing two games - thanks for dropping by, Alastar!  It would give us all a chance to play our non-casters.  Good times.  I'd want to be in whichever game would end up being more challenging - in effect, in a standard d20 game.  In other words, something that let me play a non-caster in a caster universe, in effect.

We should try to build the two groups around making sure the roles are all complementary.  Each group should have:

  • A Skillmonkey: Somebody to find the traps, scout, sneak, and be general utility.  I know you were thinking of doing an Int-based warrior, Midnight; how about a Factotum 8/Warblade 2?  With Font of Inspiration, you'd be able to swing a TON of actions in a round, add Int to nearly everything, and play the sneak/skill monkey role in your crew.  Just a thought.
  • A Battlefield Controller: Whether with Knockback, Trip, Stand Still, Boomerang Daze, or whatever, someone to lock people down and trip them up.  It helps if whoever does this can take out mages (Boomerang Daze can, but a Knockback or Trip-based character will need Mage Slayer).
  • A Healer: This can be a Crusader with a ton of attacks or a monkish healbot, but someone to heal folks up both IN and OUT of combat is a given.  We may even ask somebody to take a hit and have some Dragon Shaman levels in order to pick up Draconic Aura - Vigor for this.
  • Ranged Support: If the battlefield controller isn't a Bloodstorm Blade, we'll need to make sure to have someone who can dish it out over range in each team.  Swift Hunters qualify, and I'm partial to equipping them with a Manticore Belt soulmeld for a ton of high-damage hits.

Other than that, things should be pretty free form.  Any thoughts on preliminary sortings of parties or differences based on DM style from anyone?

Do you allow Powerful Build to increase the damage of natural attacks?  Some DMs do, some don't, because technically RAW, you don't.  But I find that a bit silly.
