Though, to be clear, it wasn't our Very Special Musical Episode.  That's coming later.

I love that you three used the cake is a lie line.

Also, I feel obliged to let Josh know that I'm playing in a FR game, and my character's main goal is to kill Elminster. Because he's a douche. :D

Overall, very interesting episode.  ;)

Every time I hear Ed Greenwood talk as Elminster I am amazed that he has never been punched in the face by one of his players.

Elminster pretending to be Ed Greenwood "pretending" to be Elminster: "Ha, if you had only gone in the temple and danced the Hokey Pokey you would not have to fight the (gets punched in the face)..."

Really?! 7 posts into this thread and no one has mentioned...

Meg: Brilliant Cuntologists.
Josh: Fuck like you have to.

You guys out-did yourselves with that little off-topic meandering...I had tears.  :clap

I rarely DM (extremely rarely) so the episode had limited impact, but was still really interesting over all.

I liked the episode.  It had a lot of off topic stuff, which was funny.  Especially those 10 seconds.

It also seemed like you had two messages packed into one.
1: Don't have players be overshadowed. (Don't deprotagonize them)
2: Setting scope and boundaries.

I came away with a strong sense of number 1, but less idea about number 2.

A good episode overall.

So I'm thinking of "easy" things we could offer as bonus material, maybe prizes for competitions or whatnot.

I'm thinking the first should be  those 10 seconds as a ringtone.

Very gutsy to actually use it, but come on, to say you have it as a ringtone??  Priceless.

A good episode overall.

This episode did not make its "point" as well as some other episodes, but if we had redone it we would have killed the episode.

So better a good episode than a crappy episode that makes its point better.

Do you plan on revisiting the "Scope and Boundaries" idea in a later episode?

Josh does most of the content, but I think we plan on revisiting all subjects at a later time.  There's only so much you can say at any one time.

I think the episode made some good points-- maybe not completely about the scope, but related at least.

This one, I have to say though, was the bitchiest to edit.  It just seemed tedious.  We really tried not to talk over each other in this one and redid everything a LOT.  Lots of splicing and splitting.

I think the part about that one campaign you guys did where you stayed in one city worked really well to illustrate the main point. The Forgotten Realms is huge and there is definitely is possibility of just getting overwhelmed with the sheer volume of available materiel, but it really is possible to confine your activities.

It was weird listening about the part of the show where you guys were talking about bumping into Elminster or Drizzt in Forgotten Realms, or Han in Star Wars, or something similar. I guess that I just have lucked out in the DM department and even thought the most recent campaigns I've been in have either been FR or SW that we never bump into those guys. The DMs that I've run with have all been able to make the campaign about the characters and not overwhelm us with the 'stars'.

In the FR campaign we never even got close to anyone with a book (or books) written about them. In one SW campaign we're playing in the era just prior to Order 66, and have met with the Jedi Council and therefor some of the more well known among them, but nothing major, and we probably won't be involved in any of the onscreen events from the movies. And in the other campaign we're in the older KotOR era, but are being trained on Dantooine with Revan and Alec, we're just about 5 levels behind them. We're likely not to have any part to play in their story unless we choose to and that won't be for quite some time anyways.

I think this is first time I really noticed the "seams" from editing the show. Not that it took anything away from the show, but it's just a bit of criticism I had.

Zeke's 10 seconds nearly caused me to lose control of my car because I was laughing so hard. It seems like every episode is getting progressively funnier.

This is actually great feedback.  I use Audacity to edit and record, and I used the upgraded version for the first time with this episode.  The way it puts clips together is different and sort of annoying.  Very good info that it could be heard.
