Q172: A Factotum can power DMM with his Opportunistic Piety ability, assuming he gets divine casting from somewhere, correct?
I'd say no.  It, in and of itself, is not Turn/Rebuke Undead, it simply functions similarly.

Mhm, well, I could see DMs ruling it could but that'd be somewhat insane considering it's freaking Wis-based and opens up for massive cheese. That and strickly reading it it's an entire other ability 'cuz of the name and you can use it in three different ways. I'll take that anyway, thanks.

Q173 Almighty polymorph question, can it change clothes? Eg switch from wearing nothing to a fully clothed humanoid? or shift from ball-gown to tuxedo (gendershift optional) ???

At first glance (+10 disguise) it would seem so but I can find no rules text to support it.
Polymorph, Alter Self or even Shapechange doesn't say that it can change your clothes. But Alter Self do mention you get to choose the gender. The disguise bonus is if you choose to use the spell with the intent to impersonate someone/something else (physically speaking).

Q175: I am a ChangelingECS/MM3. My type (and subtype(s)) is Humanoid (shapechanger). I take the feat Human HeritageRD and my type (and subtype(s)) becomes Humanoid (human shapechanger). Now that's where it gets a bit weird. I take on the NecropolitanLM template. My type (and subtype(s)) becomes Undead (augmented humanoid human shapechanger). However, I still can go back to the Humanoid type because of Human HeritageRD, right? Which sould give Humanoid (augmented humanoid human shapechanger) with Undead Traits. Now, I wonder WTF happens. Am I that much of a human that through my sheer willpower I am not affected by some of the Undead Traits? What exactly comes out from this half-human-thinking-he's-so-much-more-human-than-any-human-so-he-is-human-but-is-also-undead thing? I'm confused.

The type change probably only applies when you get the feat.

A175 Perhaps you no longer qualify for Human Heritage as an undead, so it does not apply? (I'm too lazy to look it up)

Q171: Who moderates this particular sub-forum? Apparently the file BrilliantGameologists hasn't logged in since 2008?
As of right now, I think Prime32 is doing most (if not all) of the legwork.
and he has limitations it seems. Meg sticks her head in on occasion if one of us is being overtly naughty (more than usual)

Q169: Can caster level boosts affect SLAs (allowing a warlock to quicken SLA sooner)? I would think so, but I didn't see anything about it here or here, nor is the blurb in CArc mention it.

Addendum: BrilliantGameologists is a collective name for the three admins. They're not very active, but Meg shows up from time to time. I don't think I've ever seen BG the account online.

Q176: Other than relying on your battles taking place in tiny rooms, has anyone found any fairly reliable ways for fighters to create walls so they can apply Dungeoncrasher bonuses in combat? Preferably without having to use a feather token (or other consumables) or rely on a mage to cast Wall of X every battle. Also assuming that flying above your enemy and bull rushing him into the ground doesn't work.

If you stop ignoring 289 pages telling what the intent is to stretch "more power" in your own god complexion of your interpretation trumps all to cover ability adjustments from aging then I will ignore a quarter page of rules that exist within a sidebar.
I think in this case the grammar is less important than whether the Str and Dex bonus provided to your created undead scales.

BODYSLAM!!!

Q177 According to D&Dg:
Quote
Always Maximize Roll: Greater deities (rank 16-20) automatically get the best result possible on any check, saving throw, attack roll, or damage roll. Calculate success, failure, or other effects accordingly. When a greater deity makes a[n] check, attack, or save assume a 20 was rolled and calculate success or failure from there. A d20 should still be rolled and used to check for a threat of a critical hit. This quality means that greater deities never need the Maximize Spell feat, because their spells have maximum effect already.
So a DR 16 Crusader 20/Swordsage 20/Warblade 20* using Avalanche of Blades is an insta-gib against everyone? Well, he IS the equivalent of Odin or Zeus...

Q178 Assuming such isn't bound to the material world, what happens when a ghost or the like (e.g., nature spirits) is on a plane not coexistent with the Ethereal (such as an inner plane)? Is it always incorporeal? Does it become corporeal?

Random quotes:
I think Roy's coinages are shitty and dumb, but Failroy has to take the cake for the dumbest new compound word of the year
~

That was kind of the point. I was trying to be a Roy parody, but I guess it didn't come across overly well.

==

JaronK is of course most famous for his massive thought experiments into placing classes into tiers. While a kind of nifty idea, and a decent enough way to think about stuff, his particular tier assignments were basically insane. Apparently the criteria he used was to assign classes relative strength based on what bullshit he personally would let them get away with at 20th level.

So Factotums were rated very highly, because apparently he would let them use Rokugan-exclusive skills with Forgotten Realms-exclusive weapons from the back of MM2 templated warbeasts. But Rogues suck donkey dick, becuase he wouldn't let them use Use Magic Device to read scrolls of Planar Binding. It was a very surreal argument.
~

And to think the system was immortalized in OOTS. As a general rule, I try to avoid all tier discussion there because it's the De Facto system at BG, and I'm not going to change anyone's mind.

Besides, I think if most people are pressed, they will admit that it's just an estimate, anyway, and that results can vary from table to table.
~

My only real complaint with the tier system is that at one point I was tired (tiered?) of hearing about it.
Kobolds with levels in NPC classes have their CR reduced by 3. It never states that they need to have levels ONLY in NPC classes. That thing is CR 5.

Q179 Is their a common sense clause in the DMG, that would/might apply here?

There's the fact that there's seperate CR modifications for PC or NPC classes.

As is, it says "levels in classes", and I think expert2/adept2 is probably only worth a CR+1 on a kobold.

Q180 Is there any way to get Improved Sigil (Krau) on a human instead of an illumnian?
=> I want a Human Wiz 1/ Cler 1/Mystic Theurge. Flaws are allowed. If there's another way to achieve that, I'll take it, too.

Q180a What is the Initiator Level of a juvenile (16 HD) Silver Dragon Barbarian 1/Warblade 1?

Q180b Do creatures with the augmented subtype still qualify for prestige classes? I.e., does an Necropolitan with Type Undead (augmented elf) still count as elf for purpose of Revenant blade?

Q181:  Does the Silence spell block the possibility of any / all damage from [Sonic] spells?
Well... at least, [sonic] spreads spread around silenced areas.  And
Quote
If a mind-affecting special attack from a creature also has the sonic descriptor, you can become immune to the attack by stopping your ears, but only if you do so before you're subjected to the attack (see page 314 in the Monster Manual). As noted in the glossary entry (see the sonic attack entry for more information), stopping one's ears ahead of time allows opponents to avoid having to make saving throws against mind-affecting sonic attacks, but not other kinds of sonic attacks (such as those that deal damage).

So it's kind of vague

Q 183. Aside from Phantom Steed, Control Winds and Giant Vermin, is there any other spell that gets better as your caster level increases? Not in the sense of more damage, but in effect...

A 180: (well, not an answer, but related). Remember that Mystic Theurge also requires 6 ranks in Knowledge(arcana) and (religion). Even if you get the spell levels, you normally can't enter until level 4.
