I should probably point at my past work more often than I do...

www.killfear.com

I"ve been out of the semi-pro scene for a few years due to RL being FUBAR.  Maybe I'll start up again sometime.  I certainly see things to improve upon in my work. (the one true advantage of sitting back for a while)

My work
The tier system in a nutshell:
Tier 6: A cartographer.
Tier 5: An expert cartographer or a decent marksman.
Tier 4: An expert marksman.
Tier 3: An expert marksman, cartographer and chef who can tie strong knots and is trained in hostage negotiation or a marksman so good he can shoot down every bullet fired by a minigun while armed with a rusted single-shot pistol that veers to the left.
Tier 2: Someone with teleportation, mind control, time manipulation, intangibility, the ability to turn into an exact duplicate of anything, or the ability to see into the future with perfect accuracy.
Tier 1: Someone with teleportation, mind control, time manipulation, intangibility, the ability to turn into an exact duplicate of anything and the ability to see into the future with perfect accuracy.
Your work is awesome, Fil Kearney.   :clap

Teach me to be awesome too? Yes?  :D

If anyone out there knows anything about archery, I'd appreciate some tips on drawing an archer...

From what I remember from an archery class I took a few years ago... Hold the arrow with your pointer and middle finger, with other fingers slightly curled out of the way, but fully curled. Keep your left arm locked, don't bend it. Move your head to line up with the arrow, don't move the bow to your face instead. Exhale before you shoot, though that probably won't be important for drawing. It's better to take a wide stance, don't keep your feet close together. That's all I remember at the moment, hope it helps!

Hooray! My scanner finally (sorta) works!

Here's a quick sketch I did a few days ago.

Story behind it: I was walking around downtown when I saw this guy. It was quite obvious that he was one of those X-TREEEME!! sorta guys (you know the sort), which normally I don't like. But then I noticed he was wearing a t-shirt that actually said EXTREME right on it. I didn't ask him, but to me it seemed like he was wearing it to be ironic in some dumb way, like it didn't make him more of a douche because he had it on. So I drew what I felt like doing to him, plain and simple. Call me judgmental, but there are way too many of these kind of guys at my school pissing me off for me to have any positive feelings towards them.

edit: To lessen any confusion, that isn't my arm punching him. Just in case you were wondering if I was an incorporeal floating arm.

EDIT: Here's a larger version of the Haley pic with a background.

You are off a bit on proportion.  Haley looks really bulky in that picture.  I agree she should look athletic, but her arms are bigger around than mine are in proportion to her body.

She looks kind of like a contestant in the World Strongest Man competition.  Which would be fine, but Haley doesn't seem to be the bulky, throwing beer kegs fifty feet in the air type.
She hasn't come to crush your bones, nor tear your flesh
She has come to steal your sanity with just one glance

I drew a decent number of propaganda pictures in high school, if there's any interest, I can try to find them. Very USSR-esque indeed.

I'm taking a 2D design art class...

The assignment: Find a painting, simplify it, copy it, and paint it grayscale.

Here's how it turned out:
The Original:

My chunky rendition:

The Quaker got chunky when it turned gray.  :P
Meh. I could've done it better had I spent more time on it. Spending over an hour and half on something that's not done out of inspiration makes me gag.
