How does this build looks for the WLD?
« on: December 31, 2010, 08:42:42 PM »
Ok I am trying to get into a PBP of the WLD, I heard that this particular dungeons is extremely nasty, so I thought on making a  skill full gish to cover as many bases as possible (melee combat, spellcasting, trap detection) but it fell short considering the lack of access to scrolls and spellbooks; not desisting I turned my head to the next best option: Psionics.

So here is the skeleton I cooked up... oh and it is a gestalt crawl
Daelkyr Half-Blood

Flaw: Dark Stalker DHB: Symbiont Mastery
1 Psion//Trap-finding Ranger Weapon Finesse Psi-crystal Affinity (Psion bonus) Track (Ranger Bonus)
2 Psion//Trap-finding Ranger TWF
3 Psion//Trap-finding Ranger  Endurance (Ranger) Psionic Meditation
4 Psion//Trap-finding Ranger
5 Slayer//Psion Linked Power (Psion Bonus)
6 Slayer//Swordsage Adaptive Style
7 Slayer// Blood Claw Master
8 Slayer//Blood Claw Master
9 Slayer//Swordsage Shadow Blade
10 Slayer//Swordsage
11 Slayer//Swordsage
12 Slayer//Swordsage   Expanded Knowledge (Schism)
13 Slayer//Swordsage
14 Slayer//Swordsage
15 Something//Swordsage No idea
16 Something//Swordsage
17 Something//Swordsage
18 Something//Swordsage Again No idea
19 Something//Swordsage
20 Something//Swordsage

Planning on specialising on Tiger claw and Diamond Mind with some sprinkles of shadow hand and Desert wind

So comments, ideas, criticises, anything?

Edit: Forgot about this, I don't know which discipline, I like psychotransportation for the flavour but I am not sold on it yet, Egoist get me the best gishy powers and Telepathy has the awesome-sauce that is Schism.

As always, I offer this warning: check with the DM before settling on a gestalt build involving a gish prestige class.

Remember this part of the gestalt rules:
Quote
Prestige classes that are essentially class combinations-such as the arcane trickster, mystic theurge, and eldritch knight

The collegiate wizard feat (Complete Arcane 181) doubles the number of free spells known a wizard gets.  The eidetic spellcaster alternate class feature (Dragon #357) removes a wizard's reliance on a spellbook in exchange for his familiar.

  • It can only be attributable to human error.

I would recommend using warblade instead of swordsage, wearing armor does not hurt manifesting and the int synergy is nice.

Well I choose swordsage, because I am much more familiar with them than with Warblades, and I like to have as many options as I can, which is something that Swordsage gives.

Swordsages are about options, but if you're going to specialize in Diamond Mind/Tiger Claw then Warblade gives you plenty of options.  With that many levels, you'll also net some bonus feats.  You might not need to use Slayer for BAB progression, either.
