A monk build (Really, again?)
« on: December 19, 2010, 11:02:45 PM »
I'm working on a monk (yes I know they suck, but the DM wanted me to play one, and I don't mind) and need some help organizing. So far I'm thinking Paladin 2/Monk1/PsyWarX/Shiba Protector 1/FoTF 3/Psychic Weapon Master (Crystal hands?)

Pathfinder rules, 32 point buy.

Any suggestions? This is pretty much a "punch you in the face" monk.

Items:
Monk's Belt
Tattoo of the Monk
Necklace of natural attacks?
+Wis Item
+Con Item
+ Wis Tome
+ Con Tome

Too much non-psywar.

Try monk 1/psywar 19 or monk 1/psywar 9/slayer 10 for awesomesauce monkiness.

+1, although i like to go monk 2 for the feat, and for evasion.

dont forget tashalatora.

The psywar is only in there to qualify for the weapon master (the main theme of the build). Tashalatora makes it viable, but the real focus is on the PWM.

cool.  you can link tashalatora to pwm then.  i think straight psiwar is better than pwm however,  but its not always about what build is "better"  its about what you want to play.

how are you planning on making your hands crystal?

Either begging the DM to let Mineral Warrior qualify, or chop off my hands and replace them with fists of crystal. Inconvenient? Sure. Awesome? Definitely.

between insightful strike and shiba protector, I'm gonna say yes.

New question: Is wrathful healing worth it for a monk?

Depends on their base unarmed damage.

Warforged isn't a valid target for mineral warrior, IIRC...

Warforged incarnate then.
So basically, you get (with dragonborn) +4 con, -2 dex/wis/cha, since you lose everything else with incarnate construct?

How is a build with 1 level of monk a monk build?

Monk 2/Swordsage 2/x1/Shiba Protector 1 has nice wis synergies.

Wild shape variant Monk with Beast-strike could be feasible though. Since you'd only need wis and con.
Monks are pretty much the best designed class ever.

How is this pathfinder rules?
1. say no to paladin. You pretty much want something close to pal 20 on PF, or a REALLY good prc.
Well, admittedly, the 'ignore DR' is fun for even a dip....

Monk of the Empty Hand could be fun,
Quote
At 11th level, the monk may spend ki to grant an enhancement bonus or magical weapon abilities to an improvised weapon for 1 round, at the rate of 1 point of ki per +1 bonus or its equivalent. The monk may not spend more than 3 points of ki at one time for this purpose.

Aligned-Bane fists against what-enemy-I-happen-to-be-facing-right now, sounds fun.

Are you using Dreamscarred Press's PF Psionic classes or the SRD ones?
