There is a series of what can only be described as moans or groans, followed heavy foot steps coming up the stairs, and then a figure in scorched armor makes it way up to the top of the stairs. One of the figures in all black comes next, followed by one in robes.

Harvdar shakes his head, "I don't know lad, but we are being overrun, t'at is for sure." He readies his axe as he waits to see what the plan is.

Stella, still in shock about almost having her skull cleaved, slowly backs away into the room with the other people.

Can you hold them on the stair, or do you need help? Can you pull that entangling trick of yours off again? Eldon asks Peter and then readies an action to cast a healing spell in case anyone needs it.

"Absolutely," Peter responds. "It helps if they're far enough away to let me burn through the stairs, though."

John swing his longsword at one of the figures, trying to hurt it badly enough that it stays away from the human in the dragon-style armor (Peter)
I'm going to use Vanguard Strike against #13.
Attack=1d20+1=21, Damage=1d8+2=8
Roll to confirm critical (Not that I think I got one, but just in case):1d20+1=15
Damage from potential crit: 1d8+2=7
Fighter: "I can kill a guy in one turn."
Cleric: "I can kill a guy in half a turn."
Wizard: "I can kill a guy before my turn."
Bard: "I can get three idiots to kill guys for me."

On a strange note, would anyone be put out if we had a post about people or events we can spare a thought for, or if its within their creed, a prayer for? Just a random thought, but ... hells I wouldn't have known about either Archangels daughter or Saeomons niece if I didn't happen to be on these threads.
Sounds fine to me.
probably over on "Off-topic".
might want to put a little disclaimer in the first post.

This is the Min/Max board. We should be able to figure out a way to optimize the POWER OF PRAYER(TM) that doesn't involve "Pazuzu, Pazuzu, Pazuzu".

John finds a kink in the figure's armor, but the stroke stops part way complete as it hits something solid.
For the record, the npcs don't know what you want done, you will actually have to tell them what to do.

Peter kept grinning that slightly deranged grin, took another deep breath, and let it loose in another gout of flame that sweeps wide and covers the walls, floor, and the creatures coming up after everyone.
1d6=5, 1d3=3, 1d4=1
Lingering breath on the stairs only deals another 5 damage to the structure, new breath does 3 damage (DC13 half) and lingers another round. All in the 15 foot cone are entangled as well if they take any damage at all.
Looking back over his shoulder at the arguing gnomes, he calls out "Chaps, we really need that door open now. Get the bigger ones to help, but we're going to have to bail out of that door once these stairs go down and we get a moment to rest before we torch the whole damned place."

Panicked turn to Harvdar; "THEY'RE BURNING THE BAR?! YOU BASTARDS!"

Attempting to move past Stella's slow moving body, Klammeri gets as far down the hallway as he can. "Amelia, stay there. What door do you need cleared?"

As the cone of fire dies down, it leaves the stairs with clinging fire again, as well as those on the stairs. Spaces are starting to form in the wood of the stairs.

Harvdar gives a sad nod at Klammeri's question, but jumps into action right behind him.

The gnomes are already hauling one down the hallway, having been told what to do by the person they consider in charge.

The lead figure lunges at Peter, but fails to make contact.

Eldon turns a worried look toward the exitYou lads need any help with moving that bed? The sooner we get out of this bloody place, the better.
If they say they need help, Eldon moves to help, if not, keeps ready action to heal in case of need.

For my post, let's assume Klammeri tries to get past the fray and move a bed.

John's weapon finds another hole in the armor, but the movement of the figure locks the weapon up, preventing it from going very deep.

Despite his devilish smile, Peter begins to get a worried crease to his forehead as the stairs still haven't fallen through, breathing yet again as his napalm breath burns out.

The gout of flame leaps down the stairs, engulfing the area again. The smell of burning flesh wafers in through the door.

The gnomes set down their bed and quickly get out of the way of the larger folk as they drag the bed down the hallway. The first gnome manages to budge the last bed while they are doing that.

The figure at the head of the stairs goes to lunge for Peter, just as the stairs collapse from underneath it. The stairs all the way to the landing follow the figure with a loud crash. A cloud of dust and smoke billows up from the wreckage.

The dust and smoke are much too thick to see anything in the bottom, but you don't see any of the figures or stairs left.

Eldon looks at the place where the stairs used to be, trying to make anything out through debris, but the cloud is to thick. He then lays a hand on Peter's shoulder Nicely done, mate. Now let's get the hell out of here before they cut us off.
Eldon will wait (delay) until either the smoke clears, or the gnomes and Klammeri move the last bed out of the way.
