The AC bonus from the Crystal of Arrow Deflection is untyped, and applies against all ranged attacks, not just those made by bows and arrows.

In other words, it's a +5 bonus to AC vs. Rays for 2500 gp.  It's a fucking amazing item.

Actual Knights can do rather well with a Shield. Getting a better AC, and the ability to get hit more often, too!
Read, every day, something no one else is reading. Think, every day, something no one else is thinking. Do, every day, something no one else would be silly enough to do. It is bad for the mind to be always part of unanimity.

Quite a bit of necromancy here, asking a question about a post from 10 months back :p

Are handbooks really considered "Threads" that have a duration before they become "Dead?"  If so, doesn't that defeat the purpose of it being a handbook?

Old handbooks never die; they just fade away.

But there's always more stuff, and interactions unfound 'til now ...

Allied Defense, from Shining South, synergizes very well with Active Shield Defense/Robilar's Gambit.  Since you're routinely pulling off the maximum possible for Combat Expertise, you might as well grant that bonus to adjacent allies as well.

... speaking of which, toward the end of 3.5e there was a feat (?) or something
perhaps in The Forge Of War, that gave an extra attack under certain conditions
to someone with a Shield. Maybe a +1 mod.
Caelic and I discussed it rather shortly. Alas idk any more  :(

Titan Bloodline 12 ability works with shields or the onehand wielded weapon.
Good stuff.

Shield mod Inspiration ... double Aura size, and a Prayer spell.
Good for Divine Minds (heh), and could be reverse engineered.

also in Forge Of War
+1 mod Invincible ... extra Attack (not an OA) against 4 combat attacks.
