Nickolati: Feel free to check out our Play By Post section (in particular, my own Play By Post, titled Fear the Unknown) for some idea of what a game would involve, as well as general ideas.

Everyone else: Why don't we make a new PbP for the newbie here?

Everything I learned about DnD I learned from Frank Trollman at The Gaming Den... but nowadays, my work space is the New DnD Wiki.

Check them both out!

Guess, alongside Tshern, I have to say that I am also back, after an extended absence. Though people kinda got that already.  :P
The difference is everyone wanted me to stay away from the boards.

Totally true.  Historians believe that most past civilizations would have endured for centuries longer if they had successfully determined Batman's alignment.

Why are so many posts on the board the equivalent of " Dear Dr. Crotch, I keep punching myself in the crotch, and my groin hurts... what should I do? How can I make my groin stop hurting?"

Hello! New here!

The optimization board caught my eye when I was looking through handbooks on Google, so I decided to register. :D

Hello there! My name's Mike and I'm from Canada! (Not from Canmore, sorry!). I've been a gamer pretty much all my life and a D&D nerd for the past 5 years. I love trying to create new and interesting characters and have been involved a little in the WotC forums. I don't know what else to say except hello!

Hey, I used to post and read the WotC optimization boards.  They're pretty dead now and I'm starting up with D&D again so I wanted to get some advice.

Oh yea i forgot ...

a character's ability scores should be listed in THIS ORDER!

STRENGTH
INTELLIGENCE
WISDOM
DEXTERITY
CONSTITUTION
CHARISMA

and maybe
COMELINESS

Hi,

I've recently joined a 4e game and have gotten interested in character optimization and the like. Hopefully it'll be fun.  :)

Hello! Back when I was running and playing in 3.5 campaigns I used to lurk here and at the Wizards char op boards for ideas. I like my characters to be at least competent and to make options that aren't spellcasters viable at higher levels.

Hi, I've been posting here for several months and I just realized that I hadn't read the forum rules/introduced myself.

Oops.
[spoiler]Fighter: "I can kill a guy in one turn."
Cleric: "I can kill a guy in half a turn."
Wizard: "I can kill a guy before my turn."
Bard: "I can get three idiots to kill guys for me."

On a strange note, would anyone be put out if we had a post about people or events we can spare a thought for, or if its within their creed, a prayer for? Just a random thought, but ... hells I wouldn't have known about either Archangels daughter or Saeomons niece if I didn't happen to be on these threads.
Sounds fine to me.
probably over on "Off-topic".
might want to put a little disclaimer in the first post.

This is the Min/Max board. We should be able to figure out a way to optimize the POWER OF PRAYER(TM) that doesn't involve "Pazuzu, Pazuzu, Pazuzu".
