Shambling Mound/ Zeugalak + Electricity
« on: November 21, 2010, 10:23:41 PM »
I'm planning on playing a Master Transmorgrifist who spends a lot of time as a Shambling Mound or Zeugalak in a high-level Epic game.

Are there any spells that give a lot of attacks that deal electrical damage so that I can quickly charge up?

Thunderhead.

Just remember than Con increases while Polymorphed don't affect your hit points. At least, I think that's part of the errata. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong on that.
It always seems like the barrels around here have something in them.

I think that applies only to the original Polymorph. It says something like "you keep your original HP". Subsequent Con increases should increase HP as usual.

This doesn't work with Polymorph, though, since you don't get the special qualities of the form.

I'm actually in a very high-level epic god game with access to homebrew stuff.

I'm using a homebrewed Epic Destiny that allows me to use my highest ability mod for everything.

Anything else aside from Thunderhead that would supercharge me?

Lightning Ring.  You get to fire off two lightning bolts each round as a free action.  Just fire them off through yourself.

If you go Zelugak, think of it as a free 5-ft step too :p

I am constantly amazed by how many DM's ban Tomb of Battle.  The book doesn't even exist!

It will, however, work with Master Transmogrifist.

As for the Thunderhead -- Twin and/or Repeat will really up the usefulness.

Also, you could take Improved Familiar and get yourself a shock lizard.

If you stop ignoring 289 pages telling what the intent is to stretch "more power" in your own god complexion of your interpretation trumps all to cover ability adjustments from aging then I will ignore a quarter page of rules that exist within a sidebar.
I think in this case the grammar is less important than whether the Str and Dex bonus provided to your created undead scales.

The Shamblers charge up routine goes combine:
Ring of Shocking Grasp 1 per round x 10 per minute x 60 per hour , and

Immunity to Electricity (Ex)
Shamblers take no damage from electricity. Instead, any electricity attack used against a shambler temporarily grants it 1d4 points of Constitution. The shambler loses these points at the rate of 1 per hour.

= 600 x 2.5 = 1500 real points of Constitution.

iirc - a Dwarf Sorc gets an ACF around level 9, to use Con as their bonus stat = even sillier.

Actually, it is not that bad. They add their Con bonus to their Cha score to determine spells per day.

So, if you have Cha 18 and Con 18 (+4 bonus), you have the equivalent of Cha 22 for spells per day.

Making a custom item is cheating.  Instead, buy a completely non-custom automatic reset lightning bolt trap for 15 k.  You aren't even using the formula - it's already statted out.
