Q 285 Is there a reach version of the flail? Or a way to extend it so that it does have reach?
It's called a spiked chain. :D
[spoiler]
A couple of water benders, a dike, a flaming arrow, and a few barrels of blasting jelly?

Sounds like the makings of a gay porn film.
...thanks

I've seen the spiked chain. It's nowhere near what I'm looking for visually. Also, it's requires EWP.

re-fluff?

Besides that even if one exists I doubt that it doesn't require EWP

You won't get a Reach Weapon weapon that can strike adjacent targets without EWP outside Dragon Compendium. You could see the Spinning Sword (SoS) as a "flail" of sorts, since it has multiple heads, and long/short reach.

But there are no Reach, Bludgeoning Weapons that I know of.

So, yeah, refluff stuff. I had a player ask for a Bludgeoning Spike Chain that's essentially what you want. I gave it to him.

Hmm. That does kind of suck.

If there's no such device as a reach flail, the Elongating +1 weapon property from 3rd party Arms and Armor Revised 3.5 will have to do. Doubles the range of flexible melee weapons (ie chain, rope, leather, etc). So it'll effectively have 10 feet. I was hoping for 15, but 10 will work.

Oriental Adventures had the chain.

Q 287: Regarding the heavy weapon rules from Magic of Faerun, page 179: If I want to use a gold spiked chain with no penalty, does exotic weapon proficiency (heavy spiked chain) cover it, or do I also need exotic weapon proficiency (spiked chain)?

Q 288 I'm going into a Taint-heavy campaign, so I was thinking of playing a Purifier of the Hallowed Doctrine (from Heroes of Horror).  They can Turn any creature with taint as though it was an undead with +4 hit dice.  But reading over the turning rules, it looks like Turn isn't very useful unless you can destroy the creatures (which takes a turn level twice their hit dice).  Is there a way for an ECL 8 character to reliably produce the "turn level" (24) he'd need to destroy an 8-HD tainted creature?  Or is that feature not really worth it?

I'd say you need both feats, but RAW, I'm not sure.
However, if you don't, expect people to take EWP (Heavy, Kaorti Resin Spiked Chain), which is just a silly weapon.

q 289. advice question. im going to be playing in a game that is starting at 5th level, 1 template allowed and no starting magic items. i need some advice on a build that can function without magic items. i would like to be a buffer/healer. i know that actually using one of my actions to heal someone would make me want to kill my self... so im looking for any alternatives available here.

If you have access to Arms & Armor from Bastion Press, it has the meteor hammer and mother and son hammer.  Both are essentially bludgeoning versions of spiked chains.  The meteor hammer has a reach of up to fifteen feet, while the mother and son hammer has a reach of ten feet(but does more damage).  Both can be used against adjacent enemies.  Remove the double weapon aspect from them and they'll be big flails.
The DM giveth and the rogue taketh away.
I have a 5 in Charisma and Diplomacy is a cross-class skill.  Hopefully I don't piss off too many people.

Q290
when you use a total defense, you cant make attack of opportunities
if you have the feat defensive throw from Cwarrior, can you use total defense with it? it doesnt say it is an AoO but it says "This attempt counts against your allowed attacks of opportunity in the round"

so, does it work?

Q291
can you use combat expertise and fight defensive in the same round? i remember reading that somewhere but cant find it again

ok, rules compendium has this^^

Q291 - How does Polymorph Any Object works for Permanent effects? For example, let's say i become a Planetar permanently, will i get extra pvs from bigger constitution? What about dispel, is it dispellable?

Since it has a duration other than instantaneous, it is dispellable.

That's not too bad. Definitely a consideration.

Q 292 Besides Gate, is there a way for a summoner to summon dragons? The WotC handbook doesn't seem to have anything regarding it.

You could however cast it as a Dwermokeeper so it would be undisplellable because Supernatural abilities can not be dispelled....

There are? I found the lesser, standard, and greater Dragon Ally, but that's about it, and it's only good for wiz/sor.

Yes that's what I meant....
I didn't remember the names correctly......
On another side is there any reason that you can't use planar binding(and ally) to call templated(that changes the type to outsider) dragons?

Q293:

Is there a way to flurry with a whip? Preferrably via a Feat?
