Wall of Force IN SPAAAACE!

So, Wall of Force creates a flat, vertical plane. How do you adjudicate the direction a Wall of Force faces when in the depths of outer space? Would it make the most sense to have it orient to vertical with regards to the dominant gravitational body in the region?

Well, I would presume that it has to be anchored to a hard object? If so, vertical is 90 degrees from that surface...

If this thread doesn't lead to the creation of Borg Cubes, I will be sorely disappointed.
It always seems like the barrels around here have something in them.

I pity the foo.

I can see it now: Warlocks manning the gun ports, Wizards taking care of the shields and disintegration beams, casting Fireballs when ordered to launch torpedoes...

actually you can cast it in open space, theres no such thing as having to anchor it somewhere

This is when you start replacing your battlemat with a 3D-chess board.

Thoughts:

Traps of Wall of Force on all 8 sides of the cube, with holes in the wall for the firing ports.

Adapt a Ring of Force Shield to be slightly large and capable of covering the gaps in the Wall of Force.

Have a few Warforged Warlocks capable of casting Impenetrable Barrier. This way you can order "All power to forward shields". After suffering the loss of several shields due to enemy disintegration, the warlocks will take damage and engineering will have to "repair systems".

Traps of Delayed Blast Fireball for Photon Torpedos. Meteor Swarm for Quantum Torpedos. Freezing Sphere and Chain Lightening should probably be on here too. And of course, Disintegrate for... well, disintegration beams. Traps should be mounted on a mobile base in order to be aimed out the firing ports at targets.
