The dome
Not quite. They got a little farther than that once they stopped using teleportation.
They made it to the half way point before they decided to pack it in. Or rather, the regular DM of that group decided to. And of course we couldn't finish it because he said so. Hence why I wanted to do it again, and hopefully finish it this time.
You guys right now are at the beginning, and haven't began to climb down the cliff stairs yet.
They had half of the party you did, so they had half of the MDK party, which they easily dispatched because three of them were rangers with Evil Outsiders and Undead being the predominant favored enemies, and the second they saw them, they immediately attacked. There were flat-footed, didn't have cover, and with the windows smashed, and them having transmuted bows, they had +1 to attack for height and +4 AC for partial cover. Actually, I should say one of them immediately attacked because he was CHAOTIC good. He also smashed all of the windows, cut off the dwarf's head (for resurrection purposes, he swears), etc. Seriously. Check out Previous Playtest thread. It was a mess. I also allowed the bard diplomancer to take the Loudmouth flaw because it just fit too well for his personality, and he really played it up well. The other players wanted to smack him. So when he tried to show off his teleportation skills early in the game, and went back to the dome, the others took off as fast as possible and had their first island encounter (not the roaring monsters). They realized quite quickly that they weren't optimized to take it on, but the CG pixie took it out once it decided to help instead of nap in the trees, being lullabied to sleep by everyone's screams of agony.
The four roars you heard, they heard three, and they took out two of them without any troubles. The third, the diplomancer (with tongues) was able to get to join them. Of course he had Diplomacy +126 before rolling. That was before he added spells to increase that even more. He wanted fanatics.
