Melkior, Hunter of Evil And
Alkazar, his friend and followerMelkior was born Michael, son of a poor peasant family. He was the last of 7 children, and his parents barely had enough for their other sons, so being devout servants of Pelor, they send their son to the nearby cloister of Pelor.
Michael was given his religious education. But as he left the cloister with one of the clerics, Adama, to spread the words of Pelor. The cloister was burned. Adama kept up his education, but seemed to know what destroyed the temple. They travelled together for a while, joining up with other priests, from time to time also venerating the patron of the homeless and the travellers, Adama and Michael looked everywhere.
It was at his 16th year birthday Michael became Melkior, in his dreams, Pelor had sent him the message that his name would only bring him pain, he should choose the name of a champion, and he would become a champion.
Melkior and Adama kept travelling. They arrived at Melkiors home town, as it was being attacked by demons. Melkiors family was slaughtered, so he drew his grandfathers sword, and slew the demons. Being only 17 years old he fought at unbelievable odds. And succeeded, but Adama died.
For a while, Melkior travelled the world alone, he was in tears, everyone he ever knew were dead.
That was when he sat down in a tavern. Sobbing into his beer, a huge man, he sat there, that was when he met Alkazar. Alkazar shared some money with him, and told him off the old crypt, he was going there with two of his friends, but they could use an emissary of the gods to help them.
Melkior agreed, and quickly became friends with Alkazar, they travelled together for many years, learning much. That was when Melkior heard of the demon who killed his cloister and his parents. They hunted the demon through the world, and at last they killed it.
That was three years ago.
Melkior, has settled down, his old allies have settled in the same city, they are leaders of the city, Melkior is the high Patriarch of all Pelor Churches in the world, married to a fine wife Ella. His friend Alkazar is archmage at the Ordo Magicus. They both grew bored of the civil life, and they talked about it over a glass of wine a few times.
It was a normal day in the church when Melkior received the letter. He thought a bit about, sent a messenger to Alkazar, and asked Pelor for guidance.
After having discussed it for a few minutes, they agreed to go on account of the urguency of the letter, and decided to accept.
At last, Melkior answered it with a short but secure:
"Yes"
