Ok, could you explain a bit more explicitly? Who is complaining about whom, exactly? And they're complaining that the fighter is "overpowered"? I'd think the wizard and RSoP would be much more effective...
And what is "Melt Metal"? Do you mean "Heat Metal (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/heatMetal.htm)", or is there some spell that I don't know about? And if you're not the DM, why would you be an idiot for not checking the spell description?

Disregard, ironed this out.

Just remember that a Goliath is a Monstrous Humanoid, so not a valid target for Enlarge Person ;)

Doesn't change much, they don't gain that much from being large anyways, since powerful build is effectively counting as large, so bein glarge does not make you count as huge.

What!!!!! Even as a playable race???
What does that have to do with it? There are playable abberations, outsiders, etc...
Whoa. I'm not too sure if I can pass this knowledge on.......
Why not? You were looking for a way to "nerf" the fighter. You found it. :P (Unless he's using Expansion, the psionic equivalent of Enlarge Person).
-
Huh. I didn't think of it that way....
-
EDIT: The SRD says the spell affects "humaniod creatures". Where does it say that Goliaths are Monstrous, and not affected?
In the type line.
-
I warned the player......I'm not going to start a shitstorm by warning the DM. It can be an advantage though, right? You can't use Hold Person on them, it would have to be Hold Monster?
-
yeah, it's actually more an advantage than anything else.
And in Dnd, Humanoid is a type, not something you are. Or else some aberations, most outsiders, constructs, undead and a slew of other creatures are ALL humanoid...

It says that the Goliath is a Monstrous Humanoid in the ROS text yeah.......I can't find where it specifically says that spells like Enlarge Person don't affect Monstrous Humanoids. It's not in the MH text in the back of the Monster Manual
-
It goes by creature type, and Monstrous Humanoid is a distinct creature type from humanoid, not just a humanoid that's monstrous.
