: Cake V Pie
: Nox_Noctis May 21, 2008, 10:04:18 PM
Let's debate these by listing the pro's for each (and con's if we find any).

The Armies:
Cake:
Nox_Noctis
Skydragonknight
Altpersona
Smudgyhandsman
Shadeseraph
Meg
Kai
Entropic Shadow
Dman11235

Pie:
Ninjarabbit
PhoenixInferno
MittenNinja
Josh
Aftercrescent

Cake Pie:
ShaggyShaggs

The "Arguments":
Cake:
delicious
moist
cheese-
layery goodness
birthday-
stripper-
chocolate stuff in ice cream cakes
Boston cream (stolen from Pie)
is not a lie, despite popular belief
cup-
carrot
lemon
weddings

Pie:
lemon meringue
apple
cherry
pumpkin
blueberry
poutang
French silk (which sounds like a terrible innuendo given that we're discussing pies)
pork
chicken pot
frito
pulled pork
Thanksgiving Day
homemade butter crust
adaptable
quiche
meat
strawberry rhubarb
pizza

Cake Pie:

After much debating, a new third party has arisen that may spark great controversy: Cake Pie.
I personally see this as a defilement of all that is cake, but others may contend that it is actually a fusion of all that is good in each - to which I respond, good in pie? Blasphemy!

Come one, come all, and let us settle this! Two baked goods enter, one baked good leaves.

Count me in as Pro-cake. Layery goodness vs. consistent meh.
: Re: Cake V Pie

+1 cake

+1 cheese
+1 birthday
+1 stripper
: Re: Cake V Pie

Yeah, cake is the way to go. That chocolate stuff in ice cream cakes, oh man. :drool

Cake, even if it is a lie.

Pie

I like all sorts of pie, apple pie, cherry pie, pumpkin pie blueberry pie, not a big fan of pecan pie, but most of all I like the poutang pie ..... if it's good enough for the Rock then its good enough for me

So, it looks like we're up against Phoenix Inferno. PI King
: Re: Cake V Pie
: Meg May 22, 2008, 12:31:40 AM
I would eat cake everyday if I wasn't worried about the whole terribly-unhealthy side affect.

There are a few pies I love-- lemon meringue and Boston Cream, but the latter is really a cake anyway, so I am without a doubt in the cake category.

And the cake ISN'T a lie!
: Re: Cake V Pie
: Kai May 22, 2008, 04:49:37 AM
I'm in on the side of cake. I'm quite taken with cupcakes at the moment actually...
: Re: Cake V Pie

French Silk Pie > all.
: Re: Cake V Pie
: PhoenixInferno May 22, 2008, 04:53:22 AM
I'm sorry, I know there are ladies out in the audience, but if poontang pie doesn't win the Pie vs That Other Baked Good, then I don't know what will.  :P

Damn, the flapping tongue is awesome :)
: Re: Cake V Pie
: Josh May 22, 2008, 04:55:52 AM
Back when I could eat gluten I was firmly in the pie camp.

An advantage of pie is that you can have savory pies.  Pork pies, chicken pot pies, frito pie and my invention: pulled pork pie.

: Re: Cake V Pie
: PhoenixInferno May 22, 2008, 05:38:57 AM
my invention: pulled pork pie.

: Re: Cake V Pie
: AfterCrescent May 22, 2008, 05:55:59 AM
+1 Pie.

The cake is a lie. No manner of deception will change this.
The pie is deliciously deceptive, even to the point of masquerading as a cake (Cheesecake, after all, is a type of pie)
: Re: Cake V Pie
: EntropicShadow May 22, 2008, 07:05:17 AM
While that pulled pork pie does sound delicious, I am going to have to go with cake for the reasons of cheese and carrot.

: Re: Cake V Pie
: Shadeseraph May 22, 2008, 07:45:44 AM
And the cake ISN'T a lie!

But they will bake me before they give it to me!

Anyway, the cake is great.

Though I have to say I love cheesecake too. But I prefer lemon cake.

hair pie, is not sufficient alone to beat cake.

god forbid it goes bad..

Can't believe we have so many infidels that need smiting!

Gotta go with Pie. I took a pie making class, there is nothing better than a homemade butter crust. Pie is flexible, you can put just about anything in it. Have a quiche in the morning, a meat pie for lunch, and strawberry rhubarb pie for desert at dinner.

A pie for every meal!
: Re: Cake V Pie
: MittenNinja May 22, 2008, 03:53:26 PM
I think we're all forgetting something very, very important...

Pizza Pie.

: AfterCrescent May 22, 2008, 06:14:38 PM
Do you still like cake? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-azqXygCzO8)

If you said yes. Watch it again. And again. Until you go over to the pie side.
: Re: Cake V Pie
: ShaggyShaggs May 22, 2008, 06:17:37 PM
You can put anything in pie.  Thus the solution is clear:

Cake pie.
: Re: Cake V Pie
: dman11235 May 22, 2008, 07:39:01 PM
Well, due to Boston Cream Pie, cake clearly has the advantage, though French Silk and Lemon Meringue lead pies to a close second.  Put me down for cake.

: Re: Cake V Pie

cake has already been declared the winner anyway, the whole discussion is pointless...

_____ ' takes the cake'

nothing ever "takes the pie"

the cake is clearly the winner., other wise it would not be the prize.

Except that that term comes from cakewalks.  Yes cake is so undesirable they have to come up with a gimmick to give it away.  You can sell pies.

(For people not from 1950 middle America a cakewalk is a really lame contest like musical chairs where instead of taking a seat away you win cake.  A contest so lame the term "cakewalk" originates there.)

The best argument hairless pie (sometimes called "shaved mooseknuckle" pie or "purple bulldog lip" pie).  Point out the following:
The biggest supporters of "hair" pie:
1) Communists
2) Terrorists
3) French people

Now ask yourself ladies, if you want to be in any of those groups?
That argument is a Piece of pie.

It looks utterly disgusting, to be quite honest, an abomination against all that is cake or pie (which wasn't much in the case of pie). I deem cakepie inferior to either of the aforementioned baked goods. [Nox used Judgment. It's super-effective! Cakepie lost 9001% of its health. Cakepie fainted.]

I give you that, it was an unappitesing flavor but it exists.  Now, there were some delicious looking cakepies I found, but non with screenshots of clearly cakey and pie like insides (not in the same shot anyway).

My mother's (actually, the recipe is my grandmother's or perhaps older still) cheesecake uses (nor needs) no filling nor crust (though I do admit I love the texture of crust on those cheesecakes that have it), just gustatory goodness. It's absolutely delicious (to the point that people in the neighborhood actually ask her if she can make it for various events they attend or organize).
