: Pathfinder psionics - thoughts?
: Prime32 January 10, 2011, 08:13:53 PM
So, anyone looked at the stuff Dreamscarred Press put together for Pathfinder's psionics system? What I've heard (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=182797) sounds interesting.

Hadn't gotten my hands on the book yet, but I hear good things so far.

I'm cautiously optimistic. Then again, I'm not sure if they needed to restrict the ability to change energy types on the fly to the Kineticist.

^^
Probably just needed some candy for the Kineticist, and figured they could steal it from everyone else.
Theres gotta be SOME flaw in it. :P

That's not giving the Kineticist candy, though. That's taking candy from all the other kids. :P

Still, won't know until I see the Soulknife and the powers for myself.
More the latter. The odds of not fucking up the soulknife are astronomical.

Wasn't their first version of the PF soulknife supposed to be overpowered? :p

I suppose we can make an Incarnum soulknife.

You know just out the box even not knowing much about incarnum... that sounds like a good idea.

Incarnum is basically gear made of soul anyway.

Looked at it.
Well, the Soulknife is usable now, in that you can basically play it like a Fighter, with an opening high damage move(precharged Psychic Strike opening move) and some mind blade tricks in place of bonus feats. The weapon enhancement is more adjustable now, so you can still benefit from Greater Magic Weapon if one is available, shunting the rest to weapon SFX. And full BAB.

A solid start, though the fact that they didn't make it a Psionic Duskblade with built-in gear is a little disappointing (but that's Paizo for you).

That would be a decent idea too (roll it in with a revamped Soulborn to add extra fixage).

Edit: And throw in some Soul Calibur jokes/fluff while we are at it.

^^
It's actually third party.
I heard the PF project head is allergic to ToB and Psionics.

Though an Incarnum Soulknife might run out of body slots.

That does not surprise me.  I've heard he's pretty allergic to constructive or logical criticism as well, so I guess it makes sense.
